Screen time need not be negative.

In the realm of homeschooling, screens sometimes suffer a negative reputation. Though using screens into your homeschool lesson plans can present difficulties, there are some really great advantages as well.

Among the enjoyable ways you might include technology into your homeschool include tablets, smart watches, YouTube, and live online lessons. Including technology into our home education has greatly enhanced the value of our experiences.

First of all, compared to listening to a lecture, young students seem to remember more of the material they acquire via movies and applications. Including technology into early elementary and preschool classes is one of my favorites about it.

Technology in Our Educational Environment

In many respects, we routinely include technology into our homeschool curricula. Every one of our interest-led unit studies includes online learning tools as well as documentaries and video playlists.

Here are some of our top home school tech uses:

Tokens

On the run, we read and learn on a tablet. Our homeschool experience has included this instrument really extensively. She can practice arithmetic, grammar, spelling, writing, foreign language, and more alone with so many fantastic educational applications.

They fit perfectly for running errands and when we travel as well as for squeezing in homeschool classes or additional study. She also can view an instructional film or YouTube playlist on her tablet. Documentaries from some of our favorite locations, such as the Smithsonian or Curiosity Stream, are readily available.

Online Learning Materials

For homeschoolers who appreciate technology in the mix, there are many amazing online curriculum choices. We enjoy Teaching Textbooks, for instance. Designed for elementary school through high school, this computer-based arithmetic curriculum helps children.

Books

Part of our homeschool education, we also enjoy viewing documentaries. Low-stress learning days following a long weekend or when we are not feeling well benefit much from documentaries. We also get great enjoyment seeing them together.

Emily can easily view documentaries on her tablet as well. Lunch allows me to let her run a documentary or instructional DVD. As she learns, I can take a much-needed rest or finish chores I need done on my own.

The Evolution of Technology in Our Homeschool

Including YouTube playlists into our interest-led unit studies helps us to pursue Emily's passions and answer her natural curiosity with current knowledge. For our homeschool experience as well, including online classes, social activities like LEGO clubs, and online curriculum possibilities has been revolutionary.

Emily has developed friendships, become proficient in new material, and discovered fascinating subjects from several outstanding teachers via online classes. Even though we can't get out of the house for a meet-up, social clubs and book clubs online give her chances to interact with other kids her age.

Including learning applications and games in our homeschool has made gameschooling a quite enjoyable component of our educational process also. They are ideal for allowing her to practice difficult ideas extra times.

I have compiled a handbook to assist you in beginning to include technology into your home school curricula.
